MOVIE DESCRIPTION:
Photo of A Girl Named Sooner The tender, moving story of a young girl who learns the many ways of caring and the healing power of love.
Sooner (Susan Deer) is a young girl being raised by an eccentric and slovenly woman known as Old Mam Hawes (Cloris Leachman). She makes her living by selling moonshine in the backwoods of rural Indiana. It's only after Hawes illicit ways are discovered by the authorities that Sooner is taken away and given to a childless couple, Mac (Richard Crenna) and Elizabeth McHenry (Lee Remick). Sooner comes to realize just how ignorant she has been of the wider world around her. The going is going to be difficult but with patience and understanding her new parents try to help Sooner adapt to a better and more enlightened life.
This is a popular, heartwarming story that is enjoyable for the whole family.
