The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia is a 1981 country drama following the tumultuous journey of fading country singer Travis Child and his determined younger sister and manager, Amanda, as they travel to Nashville in search of a long-overdue comeback. Once a one-hit wonder, Travis lacks the drive to reclaim his fame, often distracted by barrooms, booze, and fleeting romances, much to Amanda's frustration.

Their road trip turns rocky as the siblings part ways in a small town, and Travis finds himself jailed for public drunkenness. To pay off his fine, he takes a job tending bar at a roadside tavern, where he falls for a local woman — unknowingly inviting danger when her jealous ex, the deputy sheriff, intervenes. As dreams of stardom clash with small-town drama and personal demons, Amanda must decide whether to keep chasing fame or face the hard truth about her brother's future.
